René C. Swafford is an Annapolitan, wife, mother, legal counsel, civic leader and community servant. René received her B.S. degree from the University of Maryland University College. She completed her J.D. at the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1998. She is admitted to practice law before the Maryland Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

   Upon graduation from the University of Maryland University College, she worked as a law clerk at the Law Office of Vicki B. Watts (now District Court Judge of Baltimore County).  Upon being sworn in to practice law in the state of Maryland, she opened the Law Office of René C. Swafford, L.L.C. 

   René was President of Anne Arundel Coalition of Tenants of Annapolis from 1998 to 2001.  She volunteered her time as counsel, representing tenants and assisted tenants of public housing in conjunction with legal aid to prepare written comments to the proposed lease for 1999.

   René’s husband Robert is a Software Developer at Telecommunication Systems. She has two children.  Her son Robert is a tractor trailer driver, and daughter Eshe is a student at the Key School of Annapolis.
